Upcoming City Election
Update
On March 18, 2020, the governor issued a proclamation authorizing (but not requiring) all political
subdivisions holding general or special elections on May 2, 2020, to postpone
that election to the November 3, 2020, uniform election date. Due to the fact that Governor Abbott extended his social distancing order to last until April 30, 2020 and the increasing concern for individuals who will be voting and who will be working at voting locations, on Tuesday, March 31, 2020, the Flatonia City Council voted to postpone the November 3, 2020 General Election to Tuesday, November 3, 2020. This election will be to elect a mayor and two council persons.
By postponing their election date, the political subdivision is preserving all
candidate filings and ballot order actions that have already been taken. The postponement does
not have the effect of reopening candidate filings. Those candidates who have already filed and drawn for a place on the ballot will not change.
If you have any further questions regarding this election, please contact City Secretary Melissa Brunner at 361-865-3548 or mbrunner@ci.flatonia.tx.us.
