Texas Public Information Act

The Texas Public Information Act ensures that government records in Texas are open and accessible to the public. It promotes transparency by allowing citizens to request information from state and local agencies. A public information request can be submitted in writing, asking for documents such as emails, reports, or policies. Agencies must respond promptly, typically within 10 business days, either by providing the information or requesting an opinion from the Texas Attorney General if an exception applies. This law helps maintain accountability and public trust in government operations.
