City of Flatonia COVID-19 Status and Updates

As of this date, the lobbies at City Hall and at the Police Department are still closed to the public.  Employees are in the office conducting business.  If you need to speak with someone or need assistance, please call City Hall at 865-3548 or the Police Department at 865-3337.  If you need in person assistance, please make the person answering the phone aware of this and we will make every effort to accommodate you.


March 24

Mayor Milson has signed a Declaration of Disaster.  City Manager Sarah Novo has issued a press release concerning the City's current status.


March 23The City of Flatonia remains open for essential business, however, as a precautionary measure related to COVID-19 and in line with the latest recommendations by local, state and federal health officials, beginning on Friday, March 20th, there will be limited public access at all of the City facilities.


  • Municipal Court is closed to the public and all proceedings have been postponed until further notice.  If you need to speak to the Court Clerk or may payments, you may call 361-865-3548.
  • The April 14, 2020 Flatonia City Council Meeting may be cancelled, check back for updates.
  • Parks - The City of Flatonia is closing pavilions, playscapes, and other gathering areas in city parks effective immediately. The closures help assist with physical distancing and discourage social gathering. 
  • City trails - will remain open for active use within the current permitted constraints of social and physical distancing, up to 10 people. 
  • Spring Clean up Limb Chipping - suspended until further notice
  • Utility Disconnects & Late Fees - not applied through May 1, 2020
  • Issuance of Solicitor Permits - suspended until further notice.
  • Planning and engineering applications, including zoning, subdivision, construction plans and site development applications may be arranged with the City on an as-needed basis. Please call for more information.   361-865-3548


Staying Well
If you feel you have exhibited signs of illness or believe you could have been exposed to COVID-19, we encourage you to stay home and use our online services or to call the office at (361) 865-3548. Please visit the Center for Disease Control (CDC) website for updates on COVID-19 and for preventive measures you can take to keep you and your family safe. Links to more information on prevention and symptoms are on the Local Update page of the City's site.


Thank you for your patience and understanding as we make every effort to provide you with uninterrupted service.  


March 20 - In order to contain the spread of the COVID-19 virus, the City of Flatonia Administration has decided to close the City Hall and Police Department lobbies to the public until further notice.  


Employees will still be in the office and the Police Department will still be patrolling and conducting business in the offices during regular business hours, so if you need to speak with an employee or police officer, please call City Hall at 361-865-3548 or Police Department at 361-865-3337.


Utility bills are still due and can be paid by dropping payments in the drop box to the right of the doors at City Hall or by calling during business hours and making a payment with your debit or credit card.


If you have any other documentation that needs to be turned in to City Hall, you can drop it in the same Drop Box.
